Does anyone else have a pet that just smells good? (Spouses don’t count. They’re supposed to “smell right.”)

I’ve had three wonderful cats, Effy, Elrond and Efanor. Loved the first two dearly, and Rondo was, IMO, the Most Amazing Cat Ever, but I was never conscious of their smell. But then, they never parked in front of my nose every morning. Efanor is a morning cuddler, and a confirmed smoocher. I wake up every day to him lying across my arm, his head on my pillow and my nose buried in his ruff….and I just realized this AM, I love the way he smells. He always smells…sunwarmed.

Oh…I promised pics of current state of the mural. It’s virtually impossible to capture the color I’m talking about. It’s very subtle blues in the water and sky and green in the main mountain. I’ve enhanced the contrast a bit on the one of the mural itself to try and bring it out, but it doesn’t really capture it.

As you can see, the waterfall is still, which gives the backyard a whole different look. It’s getting so cold at night right now, that we turn it off at night. Since I haven’t “set” the rocks of the fall, I fear that freezing would cause the rocks to shift all funny, tho it would probably be really pretty. :D

6:30 this AM I was out in the garage working on the arch…. Read the rest of this entry »

Been a strange day. Got a late start on the mural…7am instead of 6am. I could not get to sleep last night. Couldn’t figure out why until I saw which bottle of Pepsi had been opened last night. Carolyn made me a C&L with the supercharged Diet Pepsi. Serious caffeine hit.

Anyway, 8:30 roles around and I’m beginning to think breakfast, when Carolyn comes out and asks if I can run Joan to the doctor, because she (Carolyn) isn’t feeling well.  (She’s feeling better now, BTW.) Sure, say I, but I’ve got to pick her up in fifteen minutes! I’m all over paint. So I run in, change and wash up and was out the door. Read the rest of this entry »

AM or PM, it’s the magic hour…for painting murals. There’s light without glare, and the temperature is pleasant. You can get at least two or three hours in before it gets either too light or too dark to work…although I’m thinking about moving the spotlight out to work a bit later in the evening. Yes, it’s less. I decided I didn’t like the central mountain, so I erased it. As soon as it cools off this evening, I’m going out to start rebuilding it.

Something weird is going on with WordPress again. It’s posting images just fine but claiming non-existent links to the fullsized images, even tho I know the files are there. I don’t know why and can’t find anything on the WP site on the problem. So, for now, this is what you get. I might have to put the full sized images up on Flickr. Haven’t been using that the way I should anyway.

Meantime, I’ll post them a bit larger.

Ja ne!

Actually, I’ve been tired! Still am. But I owe you all, so I’m going to post something…mostly pictures with captions.

We’ve begun the mural. I thought Carolyn would have said something, but I guess she’s left it up to me.  Read the rest of this entry »

The garage. We found a really pretty base tone. It’s called Pocahontas. Kind of a soft mauve, but a bit browned as well, so it’s not really pink or purple. I think it’ll make a nice base tone for our mural.

The spray painter was an absolute godsend (thank you Carolyn.) We were able to get the entire thing done in a handful of hours. Are there some, er, less than perfect places? Sure. But, hey, it’s a garage. The main thing is, it’s soft and easy on the eyes rather than painfully glaring. And I’m looking forward to our mural.

Today, it was de-pitting the house. We’ve been going for a PhD (piled higher and deeper) ever since we got back from Dallas/Memphis. I spent most of the day in the office getting bills paid and finally separating last year’s files from this year’s. Tomorrow, I’ll get my nice storage unit ensconced in teh corner of the garden and my wacom installed on the desktop.

Heck, I might even use that nice clean dining room table to dig into my laptop again and look for a loose cable!
