Mom’s BZ percastinatin’ (Shu-chan don noze wot dat means septin’ she stares at da ‘puter an’ hissspits…lots. Da Shuster takes notes.) She wants t’ telz yu ’bout da pretty sparklies dat Kim-chan sended to Shu-chan. (Mom hissspits dat Kim-chan sended dem to Mom, but Shu-chan noze bedder.) But Mom can’t find da werds so da Shuster is jus goin’ to tell it like it iz.

SooperShu, floating in unexplored region of space spots sparkling anomaly. Dis iz important. Dis haz meaning.
A sudden gust of gravity rips da treazur away (and tangles SS’s cape). But SS’s sooperbengal powerz snagz da treazur as SS slips into da black hole. Lost, naked (sob…his booteeful cape…gone) da treazur callz. It’s a box. Duz SS dare open it?
Tiny alien arteefax are hidded inside. SooperShu touches dem wif hiz bengal-powered nose…Home! Wif out hiz booteeful cape but wif da sacred arteefax safe in his bengal-powered grip.

Translation:

SuperShu, floating in an unexplored region of space around Tau Ceti, spots a sparkling anomaly in the distance. Diving after it with his jet-propelled bengal-thrust (and we all know what that means) he has it nearly in his grip went a sudden gravity flux jerks the precious bag away, simultaneously pulling his cape down and tangling it about his legs (the hidden hazards of superhero high fashion.)

With the help of another bengal power boost, he snags the artifact just as it falls into the black hole. Rather than squished into oblivion, he finds that he and the tiny bag are safe in a bubble of non…which unfortunately doesn’t extend to his fashionable cape.

Drawn inexorably to the tiny bag, he opens it and extracts the treasure, determined to know what it is, if this is to be the end of his superhero activities.

Suddenly the sparkling box bursts open. Inside are tiny alien artifacts rippling with power.

He touches them with his nose, the universe begins to ripple and swirl. In the distance, he sees…home. He grabs the artifacts, magically back in their sparkling box and magical pouch, and leaps for the doorway…and comes out inside his newly remodeled kitty-condo.

Kim, my darlin’…I was totally blown away by the adorable charms, possibly moreso by the accompanying sentiment. I wanted to find a special way to say thanks (e-mail would’ve been a good start, Mom—>Shu) but was completely tongue-tied…until SooperShu told me his story.

Hope you (and everyone else) enjoy.

(Note: there are puzzles here!)

I’ve never worked so long and so hard and spent so much money for a result I’m so unhappy with.

Sigh…The good news is, we got the front storm door put back together and hung. The bad news is, I lost the proper bolts for the handle and the black enamel refused to cure and there’s all kinds of little dings to fix because we had to bang it into plumb. No pix of the project until the door behind it is the red it’s destined to be, but suffice to say, I’m really tired, my feet are sunburned and I’m out of sorts.

So…let’s have cute pix of the kittehs!!!!

Update!

Da ShuShu is home and nuttier than a fruitcake! Whatever painkiller they gave him has him feeling really good! Also, we paid a few $$ more for laser surgery and I think it was worth every cent.

My kitty boy is becoming an itty boy today. And if the language he used to his doc is any indication, he knows it! (Altho that language could be because he hadn’t gotten his breakfast, let alone his morning smoochies!)

I just left him off at the vet’s and I must admit, for all I know it’s a simple surgery, I’m still a bit antsy. There’s always a danger with anesthesia and he still just feels…undersized to me. Maybe it’s because all my previous boys have been small horses! But the vet said he was pretty average size for neutering, so I’m hoping all will be well. I nearly lost my beloved Elrond due to a blocked urethra, and I’ve always been a bit nervous about it since. There’s no absolute connection between blockage and too-early neutering (which in fact we didn’t do with Elrond…he was six months old) but it’s certainly one possible factor to consider.

Shu, OTOH, is ready. He’s let out a couple of healthy deep yowls this last week and his leaps onto Seishi have become a bit more…hmmm…purposeful? He’s also looking like an adult, albeit very gracile. Not to mention his language! Goodness me. Hissing and growling…Of course he was at the vet’s, but he’s always been completely sweet on our past visits. At this point, he’s truly Mr Personality…at least here at home…but he’s also definitely the most aggressive cat in the house hold and we really don’t want that trait to become dominant.

He’s also getting microchipped, so he’s definitely on the road to being an adult.

Just for giggles…here’s a little slideshow of him helping Mom paint…

Mr Shu after a hard day of bedeviling Seishi. I was sitting in my chair working when Carolyn came in, stopped, staring at the cat tree, and whispered: where’s the camera? (slideshow follows) Read the rest of this entry »

I’m so far behind….I’m working on repainting the windows on the back of the house. This needed doing years before we moved in, and we’ve been here three years…or is it four? Anyway, it’s taking way  longer than I expected (what home repair job doesn’t?) but the tracks are actually clean and the poor pealing wood is getting a nice fresh coat of paint. Should be pretty when it’s all done.

Anyway…I started this post ages ago…it was, like, Seishi’s third or fourth day here. But the pix are cute, so I’ll go ahead and put them up. I have lots more, plus a bunch of Shu taken even before we got Seishi, so if you’re having ES or SS withdrawal, I’ll try to get you your fix in the next few days. OSG dropped in this afternoon and Seishi waltzed right out…okay, he checked her out from behind the fishtank first, but then he came and said hello like the little gent he is! We’re really very pleased. Both Ysabel and Efanor were chancy around visitors—Ysabel had a tendency to bite when pressed and Efanor just disappeared. These two are turning out to be much more like Elrond and Khym who loved pretty much everybody, though Elrond was definitely my cat and Khym loved Carolyn with every fluffy ounce. Well, we did it. We took off for Montana and got ShuShu a toy. And he’s gorgeous. He’s also very quiet and shy right now. He’s a little over a year old and never been “off the farm.” But he spoke to Carolyn across the internet and I seriously think he was meant to come here. He’s still not quite sure what to do with us, but I think, ultimately, he’s going to fill a much needed spot in the household and be an older bro to Shu and a buffer between Shu and Ysabel. I took so many pix on this trip…and these are just the best ones….and only for the first half of the trip. Although tomorrow I’ll post some of the scenic ones as well. But these turned into a cute little narrative, Read the rest of this entry »

With the pictures and find myself with an embarrassment of riches.

We took another chiropractic trip down to Pullman today taking both the kids. It was their first longish road trip together and I’m delighted to report, they were model children. In fact, they were incredibly cute…both of them. I’ve been trying to get pix of them together ever since Shu joined us and it’s been really hard. Not today. Shu has wanted to cuddle with Ysabel, and she’s been completely indifferent. Today, he got lots of furry snuggles.

Then, we came home as I was settling in to process pix and post, I went out to the kitchen for a drink, looked out the window, and saw a nice rainbow. Read the rest of this entry »

Now, this might not seem like such a Big Deal, but when you consider I haven’t vacuumed since ES came into the house, it kinda was. Before the neat freaks get all grossed out, there was a Good Reason for the delay.

I don’t like scaring my pets. In fact, I go to a lot of effort not to scare my pets. That means, when Something New happens, they trust me and don’t freak out and hurt themselves (or me!) So…I was waiting until I had the level of trust that might allow me to start that monument to scary things: Great Khat-Eating Machine. Read the rest of this entry »
