Yvgeny had raw power and magnetism, but I was left a little cold by his interpretation (or lack thereof. Evan had a great routine and skated with heart but he lacked that final je ne sais qoi. His choreography was excellent, but his performance was a little robotic and over rehearsed, plus the lack of a quad. Daisuke also lacked the quad but WOW his interpretation of the music and choreography were sublime.
Men’s long will be Thursday night so I have an evening to sleep and catch up with my other TV shows before the DVR runs out of room…
Totally agree. Plushy is just…Plushy. :D He’s just . . . special. Just ask him. :D :D :D And I think over rehearsed is exactly what I’m sensing from Evan. I remember Evan as junior and he’s just lost the joy somewhere in all that “determination”. Daisuke…I just adore him. Always have. I’d LOVE to see him take the gold. He’s seemed so shaky all season, I didn’t think he had a chance after his injury last summer, but he looked GREAT.
I’m transferring DVR onto DVD as fast as I can. Leave one copying when I go to bed.
Tonite was such fun. Love the half-pipe and the “flying tomato” (Ha! I dared, Carolyn) came through with, um, flying colors. Not to mention the speed skater and downhiller. (I’m tired. Names are totally eluding me. time for bed) (Not to mention caps and periods………)
