New book alert!
Finally! Ring of Lightning is up. I’m going to get right to work on Intrigue and Destiny. Most formats, including pdf, have clickable Table of Contents. I’ll be anxious to hear how they all work. As always, if you have problems on some reader, I’d like to hear about it sooner rather than later. Weird formatting, weird characters…I can’t check any of these except in the reader that comes with Calibre, so I really count on you all.
We went skating today, but the rink had been invaded and was wall to wall speed bumps (small people) so we round-abouted and came home. With an unexpected hour, I decided to tackle Wesley’s (my car’s) non-working door locks. The actuator was trying to lock and unlock, but nothing was moving. His doctor needed like $60 a door to take them apart and spray liberally with WD40. Well, I can spray with the best of them, so I pulled every bolt and screw I could find, popped the “lining” off and sprayed everything until it was dripping, working the mechanism in between sprays. I didn’t see any “gunk” built up, but the locks are working fine now.
Really fine. So fine, I locked my keys in the car! Fortunately, Carolyn had an unidentified key on her ring which turned out to be his door key. I got into the car and immediately headed for Ace hardware to make a spare set of keys. (I’ve got one somewhere, but it wasn’t where I thought it would be.) Well, I hit Wellesley (road) before Ace and Wesley turned (it wasn’t me, I assure you) down to Walmart instead. He’d decided he wanted new “hubcaps.” A nasty prankster at our old apartment had swiped one, and the others were badly scuffed…so while the keys were being made, I found him some pretty dusty-black “hubcaps.” They’re cheap plastic things, but he looks very handsome now, except he needs a bath. I’ll get him clean and take of pick of him with his new “shoes.” I also got him some classy covers for his license plates (which I finally got mounted in the front) so he’s very happy.
Now, it’s back to work!
