Just wondering. My hits are kinda falling off. These slide shows and the accompanying explanatory text are a bit time consuming, and if they’re boring people, I’d sure like to know. I wanted to give the bros their individual moments because the final portraits on the cover are so small. Plus, it lets me introduce them to those who haven’t met them yet. And the characters on Intrigue are even more fun in their evolution, so I’d like to share those … but only if you folks are interested.
Just let me know if you’d like me to continue the way I am or change direction: I exist to entertain!
Meanwhile, let’s give Khyel his moment. Mikhyel, the Lawyer. (Slideshow:)The middle brother. The one who is both a younger brother and an older brother. Can you say…schitz? He’s also the one hiding secrets from…just about everybody. He’s obsessed by a childhood promise and ends up running a dangerous double game as a result. He comes off as a bit of a prig. I had no business drawing him with his hair loose…he’d be scandalized…but somehow, it always ends up flowing around his face.
Because he’s not a prig. Not really.
He’s been accused of stealing the show, but that’s only because he is, quite literally, the dreaded Man in Black. The one with secrets. It’s hard to say too much about Khyel without giving away a lot about the book, so…I’ll just post the slideshow.

Tomorrow: the cover.

Khyel is great!
I haven’t been commenting because I had no nits to pick, but my hits should still be there …
I wanted to ask about Ysabel’s magic fountain — how expensive is it to run? Obviously the filters are consumables; do you have to change them fairly often? Do you have trouble with their dropping kibble bits in the water? One of my cats jumps up on the sink or lavatory every time I turn on the water (even if there is NO room on the counter) and this sounds like something he needs, But he’s not, to my knowledge, in any delicate health, so it’s kind of a luxury.
Some kitties are just really intrigued by running water. My friend’s cat has a fountain water dispenser like Ysabel’s, and *he* always wants to drink the water while it is falling from the spout LOL! He’d drink from the faucet if he got the chance. And my Tracker likes to chase the ripples on the “pond” in his waterer. So it’s a double-function object–half nurturer and half toy LOL!
My boys rarely drop food into the waterer, possibly because I feed them quite a distance away from the water fountain. They do, however, sometimes drop toys in. Tanner adores these tiny puffy balls, and I often find one or two of those in the “pond.” He also quite frequently drops cold, dripping wet ballies into my lap, wanting to play catch LOL!
Eeewwww!
Slimy ballies!
What kind of waterer do you have? How do its filters run?
the biggest expense, obviously, is the initial investment in the fountain, but the one thing I can say about the DrinkWell, there’s not a part that can’t be replaced.
The pump, obviously, is the most vulnerable, and it was very easily changed out. They say they’ll last about two years, but we’ve had ours for years and I just changed the pump for the first time. The pump itself hadn’t died, but the impeller had and for the age of the pump, it just seemed smart to replace the whole thing.
Filters are the on-going expense. I change them out every 3-4 weeks. I have the original model. The filters for the Platinum run a bit more, but they might last longer. (OSG, don’t you have a Platinum?) If you get the filters from someplace like PetSmart, they run something like $3-4 a filter, but you can get 12 packs on line for about $2 each (12 pack for $23-24), frequently with free shipping.
Oh, and do we get all three guys together tomorrow? (greedy for more GLGs) …
Yup, yup, yup. I’m putting together the slideshow now.
I tried to comment a couple of days ago, but realized that, unlike my home computer, my office computer doesn’t know my password for your blog LOL! I’m having to be in my office before 8 am, and don’t finish my last classes until close to 5 pm, so no time to bring up the computer before I leave home, and not energy to do so once I get home :^( So I’ve been checking my blogs while I eat lunch at school.
Anyway, the comment I wanted to make then was that I *want* Nikki’s hair ;^) I’ve always had a real thing for curly blond hair LOL!
I’ve really enjoyed these descriptions of the creation of the images of these characters. I really like these guys. Deymio is my favorite guy, Nikki wins Most Adorable, and Khyel is definitely most intriguing.
Ooo…it’s that time of year. And 8am for the determined night-owl!
You have my sympathy.
For all the teachers out there, have you seen the commercial for…I think it’s Staples…of the parent cruising merrily through the store picking up school goodies for the woeful offspring?
Celebrating This Time Of Year. Revenge for the Verizon one of the parents going nuts with facebook and twittering.
“I’m sitting on the patio…”
Didn’t Nikki’s hair turn out fun? I was dreading it, then I latched onto this notion of starting with an enhanced version of William Katt’s precious mop and it turned out just like I wanted it.
So did you get your password into the school computer? Do you know it? I can reset it to anything you want, if you send me a private email, though I think you can ask it to reset as well.
You have no idea the grief I’m taking from my colleagues about being on campus before 8 am LOL! But if I don’t get there that early, I can’t park where I absolutely have to park. The hardest parts of my life right now are getting up in the morning, and forcing myself to go to bed at a decent hour ;^)
No worries about the password. My home computer’s Internet protection program has a little doodad that provides my passwords, but I don’t want that sort of thing on my office computer. So I have to remember them. Having the computer supply them every time I sign on isn’t conducive to memorization ;^)
I really love these Jane! I am an artist trapped in a pilot’s body. I never followed through on any art training, but still like to tinker with photoshop and drawring. I never learned to paint well either, so I find these to be extremely fun to watch. When I retire I envision an entirely new life filled with gourmet cooking and painting and writing, days on end!
I hope you continue to post them, and the other covers!
That’s all I need to hear!
Isn’t it wonderful to realize that we don’t have to just grow old, but can take on whole new careers? I never had much in the way of training either…There’s no real substitute for just doing and being a critical consumer. I mean that in a positive way. Learning to analyze what you like and don’t like about others’ work helps you learn to critique your own.
Still out here, still reading – sorry not to have told you so! It’s hard not to get any feedback, particularly when you do a lot of work on something, so, Yay Jane!
(back to lurking.
)
Tee hee. Love lurkers. Just making sure. Color me insecure, I guess.
I got lazy, I won’t lie. I’ve got your posts on RSS and I’ve been reading them that way. My internet is so slow over here that I have to wait thirty minutes or so for the slide show to load; although, I love them once they do. Of course, where do I find that extra thirty minutes, inquiring minds wish to know.
Tha’s okay. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t boring folks.
Thirty minutes!?! Ouch! Are you serious? I’ve gotten so spoiled with the cable, I guess I’ve gotten careless with the size of my image files. I’m trying to leave as much quality in them as I can. I wonder if others are being chased off by that….
I suppose one could open another tab and go read Carolyn’s while it loads (sheepish grin).
I typically open MyYahoo homepage, then tab Wave and this and facebook and Shejidan. Then I am not worrying so much about what is loading.
Love the cover! I wish I lived closer and could maybe watch you do the painting sometime, I am a visual learner, and love your technique for doing their faces. They are really great!
I’m here! :D Just quiet for a bit ;D
I love Khyel’s hair… :DDD
definitely not boring – reverting to the post. Just had a busy weekend, no access to the computer. Love watching these take off!
