Prince of Persia works on this machine! YAYAYAYAY I’d totally forgotten about it because Sands of Time didn’t work on the Toshi. It uses a weird backup thing that taxed the Toshi’s video card beyond its abilities. So…I did it without the backup…but it’s designed to use it and so it was hard to get through a given battle alive!

We got an XBox just so I could play the silly thing, and I never could quite get his tuck and roll timed right with those controls. I did pretty well with the PC, but we’ll see…

If you’ve never played this game, it’s really fun. You run one character, the Prince, and he’s charmingly attitudinal. If you delay too long to plan your strategy, he looks back at you and glowers. He also runs up walls, jumps like a gazelle and in general fights like a gymnast. Stevie takes serious notes while I’m playing. He particularly likes the way the Prince runs up to, then vaults the enemy and whacks them as he comes down.

Hey…lookie there! I went searching for a link to the game and found a “just released poster” for … get this, the movie based on The Sands of Time game. Personally, I think the lead looks too old. He’s more suited for the next game, which I’ve never played, but which, from the visuals, takes place well after SoT. He’s still a kid in this one. Ah, well. The movie could be fun…And Disney’s doing it. It’s been “delayed” for the SFX. The question is less how cool are the visuals and more, have they got the Prince’s personality and action right. Check out the link and you’ll see what I mean. The newest game looks to be…well, spectacular doesn’t begin to cover it. I somehow doubt Sparkleplenty will be able to handle it. I didn’t find Sands of Time immediately, but he always has this running, jumping, swinging thing going. Makes him great fun to “run.”

Ah, well, I think I’m two games behind anyway. It’ll take me a long time to play them out.

Oh…here’s a site with some screen shots:

Oh, wow…trust YouTube! This is the “original” (for me) PoP 3D. They have him going so fast, however, he doesn’t have time to look back and glower. And he’s really cute:

And the bow:

I love it once he gets his bow. I’m really a sniper at heart! But they’re playing at a really easy level. No fair!

Enough goofing off. Back to work on the UpLink cover…

Ja ne!
