AM or PM, it’s the magic hour…for painting murals. There’s light without glare, and the temperature is pleasant. You can get at least two or three hours in before it gets either too light or too dark to work…although I’m thinking about moving the spotlight out to work a bit later in the evening. Yes, it’s less. I decided I didn’t like the central mountain, so I erased it. As soon as it cools off this evening, I’m going out to start rebuilding it.

Something weird is going on with WordPress again. It’s posting images just fine but claiming non-existent links to the fullsized images, even tho I know the files are there. I don’t know why and can’t find anything on the WP site on the problem. So, for now, this is what you get. I might have to put the full sized images up on Flickr. Haven’t been using that the way I should anyway.

Meantime, I’ll post them a bit larger.

Ja ne!

Ja ne!

Actually both of them. But this time, I’m talking wood, not computers. Read the rest of this entry »

Actually, I’ve been tired! Still am. But I owe you all, so I’m going to post something…mostly pictures with captions.

We’ve begun the mural. I thought Carolyn would have said something, but I guess she’s left it up to me.  Read the rest of this entry »

The garage. We found a really pretty base tone. It’s called Pocahontas. Kind of a soft mauve, but a bit browned as well, so it’s not really pink or purple. I think it’ll make a nice base tone for our mural.

The spray painter was an absolute godsend (thank you Carolyn.) We were able to get the entire thing done in a handful of hours. Are there some, er, less than perfect places? Sure. But, hey, it’s a garage. The main thing is, it’s soft and easy on the eyes rather than painfully glaring. And I’m looking forward to our mural.

Today, it was de-pitting the house. We’ve been going for a PhD (piled higher and deeper) ever since we got back from Dallas/Memphis. I spent most of the day in the office getting bills paid and finally separating last year’s files from this year’s. Tomorrow, I’ll get my nice storage unit ensconced in teh corner of the garden and my wacom installed on the desktop.

Heck, I might even use that nice clean dining room table to dig into my laptop again and look for a loose cable!

Ja ne!

Ja ne!

Intrustin’, actually.

I had Carolyn just drop me off, since the courthouse is only a couple of miles from the house. I should have walked, but walking’s too dangerous. Oh, the neighborhood between us and the courthouse isn’t the best, but it’s the walking itself I worry about! The worst sports-related injuries I’ve ever sustained were from walking! …for new toys.

My USB woes actually took a fun turn. The usb failure on the mobo took out the USB ports on the front as well as the back. In order to operate, I really need front accessible ports, so I went hunting for options. Boy have USB hubs come a long way in the last (mumble-murph) years! Read the rest of this entry »

When you have to wait to decide what hurts most—your head, your joints, or your muscles—to decide what pain meds to take.

Bleh.

We got another load of dirt so we can actually finish the edge of the pond before guests arrive next month, but that means we have to move it.  And moving the dirt means moving rocks and moving iris (about a million and counting) from along the garage, replanting them in some of the already moved dirt, so that hopefully we’ll get more blooms next year. And figuring some way to protect the base of the garage and still hide the foundation. I haven’t quite figured, once we move the dirt in front of the garage, how we’re going to paint our mural…but we’ll manage. We always do.

Meanwhile, the pond sprung a leak. Actually it’s been leaking. We just finally tried to fix it, an experience still too recent and too painful to describe. Between alien life forms, contortionist positions to get at the leak in question and visions of having to pull apart my beautiful waterfall…I was not a happy camper.

And then, my computer ate my animation that I’m working on for the CC website. WAH!!!! I saved it down several times. It always came up. Now…it’s gone. I know that can’t happen. But it has. I was building it on the red-screen toshi, brought it over to the Dell, had to install the animation program on it…and it ate it. I don’t know why. I don’t know what I did. But I’ve got all the frames saved, so I can reconstruct it…somewhere.

And today we have to get stuff down to our skating coach’s house for a garage sale. If we can move some of this stuff out of the house, it will make life much better. But it also means losing a couple of dirt moving days.

And I’ve got jury duty Monday.

I think I’ll go take all the painkillers. (Just kidding!)

Ja ne!

Ja ne!

drinkI lost it today. I don’t often do that on the phone, but I got seriously angry at the oh-so-polite, oh-so-lying through his teeth customer non-service guy at Toshiba. Read the rest of this entry »
