That’s me. I got cocky. Thought I was all better, then overdid. Got the worst sunburn I’ve had in years and caused a relapse. Dim bulb!!!!
But before you feel too sorry for me, that means that today I’m staying inside and reading Faery Moon. Life’s so hard.
ITMT, I thought I’d share some of our flowers today:
This was taken this morning. Over the course of the day, it opened and two others joined it. I took some pictures this evening, but haven’t transferred them yet.
This is our lupin. It’s huge this year and I fear we’re going to have to move it in order for both the lupin and the peony to have the room they need. Plus, they bloom at the same time, putting a lot of beautiful color in the same spot in the garden.
This is one of our iris. It’s actually heavily photoshopped…on PSP. It’s a composite of two photos, with a bunch of messing with the background. The iris ended up at the back and it was hard to get a good shot.
This is another of my favorites that’s out. It’s a glorious soft golden tone with streaks of purple. It’s the yummy color you get when you take a screaming orange and soften it down with purple. A color trick I discovered while reworking the colors on the first A Distant Soil for Donning, and one I’ve used a lot since because the change is so magical. One iris we had to leave down in OKC and I wish we could find again is called Beverly Sills. It’s a fabulous peach/pink with ripply edges. We had a really pretty white, but there were none out when I was out with the camera. I’ll try to get it later.
Well, I’m wiped. OSG came over for dinner and she wore us out. Just kidding. We had a great time, as always, but I’ve got to debuzz now so I can get some sleep.
My thanks again for all the well-wishes you’ve sent. You’re all wonderful.

Gorgeous flowers! you are far ahead of our yard as regards peonies. Ours are covered with buds but no blossoms yet. Our lupin is hiding behind our lilies ad will certainly need to be moved as well. Our irises are in full spate. Isn’t gardening wonderful!
ps, I am longing for more pictures of the pond!
Ask and ye shall receive. I just took a few of an interesting phenomenon. Don’t know if they turned out, but if they did, they’ll be up later today.
Gardening is fun when I’m not spending all my time weeding!
Weedcloth and mulch are godsends. We didn’t do that when I was a kid…probably didn’t exist, for all I know!…but I’m sure making use of it now.
BTW, inspired by CJC’s references to the Wabash iris and by your photos, I was looking at irises on ebay and saw a Beverly Sills. They are priced very reasonably there, in case you want to take a look.
Eventually, I probably will. Right now, we’ve got so many, I don’t know what to do with them! Eventually, I’m going to have to start on the front of the house and I want to put a bulb bed there. Time enough for buying more iris then. More than likely, we’ll be handing those we’ve got out at cons first!
Me??? Wore YOU out??? Nah!
