That’s Ishida. And, yes, he’s being chased, cuz he’s got the worms!

Tubifex worms are tiny. They come compressed into 1/2 or smaller cubes. In water, they slowly dissipate, but in the meantime, there’s this nice tasty chunk begging to be fought over. They don’t really fight…it’s more like socker.

But it makes them perfect for teaching the fish to hand feed. The fish love them, so you get them addicted to it, then begin to sit on the side, holding one cube in the water. They’ll nibbled the worms that escape and eventually they just can’t resist coming up and taking it out of your hand.

It’ll be a while before I try that with this crew. But this morning was encouraging. Instead of running away when we came out, they gathered cautiously at the end where we sit. So hopefully they’re beginning to associate us with treats.

Oh, good! They really are perking up as the water warms. They’ll be gathered at one end, then one will have a thought and suddenly the entire lot are skittering all the way to the other end. They’re beginning to get individual personalities. Ari and Maddy, the gold and silver, are definitely leaders. Ichigo is curious, and Renji is always crusing for food in odd places (like the skimmer basket.)

Fprtunately, they have no teeth! Keeping your mouth open as you squirt and avoiding breathing helps.

I love koi. I had a small (comparatively) corner pond in my office when we lived down in OKC. Had a half dozen six inch + koi, all of which ate from our hands. They’re so cute the way they nibble fingers. Of course, the fact one ate my gorgeous gold dust gecko in one inhalation kind of ticked me off!

Hmmm…I sure thought I’d answered this. Deja vu and all that.

We thot it was allergy as well. But then, when you have allergies, you tend to blame EVERYTHING on them! I’d go crazy without my saline rinse. Now that I know what it’s like to breathe with my entire sinus cavity! Of course, standing on your head to blow your nose afterward is kind of funny.

Lynn Abbey calls it the Abbey Stupid Stubborn Streak, but I think the MacPhails and Fanchers can give the Abbeys a run for their money! I get a puzzle in front of me and it drives me nuts until it’s solved. Only reason I didn’t pursue it when we first got the printer is that Carolyn needed the printer right away, so I got distracted.

I know what you mean. Fortunately, at least for me, that stage was pretty brief. No skating again today. Out putting up the temporary arbor for the morning glories and moonflowers. Also had to adjust the sprinkler head which I thought I had set so perfectly yesterday. Honestly, I think Wesley’s working overtime these days. Getting excited, perhaps, about his story finally coming out.

Better count your fingers if those fish are going to be feeding out of your hands. They may opt for larger chunks of protein!

Mucinex is definitely useful. Haven’t tried the saline yet, keep having images of drowning.
