That’s Japanese for everyone. One of the few Japenese words I know…
I cannot tell you how sorry I am to report that blowing the Westibule’s brains out didn’t work. That image was just … so appealing. So, we’re back to trouble shooting. I’m taking the morning to do some very necessary office work (it being the 15th and all) but will be back on this this afternoon.
I also cannot express my gratitude for all the help. I’ve got lots of things to try I’d never have thought of.
More later.

Hi Jane,
I’ve just tried out the idea of booting a computer up with a Linux “Live” CD to check out the USB ports (I’d never tried that before). It works like a charm. It runs from the CD and memory, logs itself in, and gets a GUI up and running. I had a USB mouse connected and it was recognized and operating without my having to do anything.
I used CentOS 5.2 Live x386. It’s available from the CentOS website as a .iso file, around 600 MB I think.
Best wishes,
Dwayne
There is a Live Linux edition tailormade for Windows troubleshooting. It’s available as a download for free. Only trouble is, it’s in German I don’t know if you know enough German to use this, but anyway,
the link is :

To download, click on “Zur Download-Seite” (to the download page); the rest should be automatic. This is an ISO file which you would have to burn on a CD. Size is 236 MByte.
Now that should be fun. Time to test out how much my resident languages expert remembers. :D
Thanks!
Now is when the sound of the waterfall should be a great help. Relax. Sit. Start with your age and slowly cont backwards to zero. All will be well.
ommmmmmmmm

Even better: a wee Diet Coke and a BIG Captain!
