This is some serious cute.
That is an absolutely awesome outfit!
And of COURSE Wiishu makes it look better!
OK, that is seriously pretty awesome. Liking the cargo jeans and high tops a lot. The Far Out shirt’s…far out.
the jacket and hat are cool.
Hmm…you know, if you separated out and modified some of the design elements on the jacket and hat, you could wind up with three or four different guy-cool outerwear designs. Some would be very macho or conservatie, and cool, others more daring.
The blue feathery material for the edging and hat — not only reminds me of…blue feathery stuff…but a little like a sheepskin lined jacket with the edging, the tan and natural cream that’s a Western staple.
May have to put on my thinking cap (and see what my computer programs…or at least my hand sketching and scanner) can come up with, to show you what I’m thinking of for the designs.
Love to see them!
There was a challenge last summer that I’d love to have done for Morgaine and Vanye (tho she’d probably object) that was Arabian nights. I think they’d make pretty spectacular sheik and harim, Bwahahahaha (Hmmm…maybe in role reversal? Double Hahahahaha)
Originally, the blue fuzz was to be the lining, but I, er, cut the sleeves of the main coat too small. Worked fine in the muslim, but the fleece seam allowance just ate up the much more of the inner diameter… so it became just edging and I used that rosy lining, which was what I had in house.
I told Wiishu to just stand there for the front and back views, but, well….he never just STANDS!
I don’t expect to “win” (it’s a game, not a real competition) since I’m up against some serious seamsters, two of whom pretty much pass around the #1 spot in the challenges, but I’m really glad I did it, since it gigged me into trying a lot of finishing techniques I might otherwise have never bothered with.
I’m seriously pleased with the pockets! Ive never done pockets in anything and I did both set-ins in the side seam and application and both worked! Yay!
YES! Do the role reversal!
Seriously excellent work! Those shoe ‘sleeves’ are too cool.
I need to find the PR thread on DoA.
FYI: No package yet.
I found the thread! I like yours bestest!
So do we, but we aren’t the least bit biased! OTOH, and seriousy, IMO, it is the cutest balance between “different” and “something you can find on the rack at a department store.” Also…everyone else, with the exception of the adorable puki pongpong, is two to three times Wiishu’s size…and boy does that make a difference!
I can’t see that it would hurt to post the links to their pics here.
FloraLaguna’s workmanship is downright stunning, but very…normal?

And Poetic Soul’s, who wins or seconds in every contest she enters, is darling, but seriously all the way over to costume, IMO.

Blue Oracle, who kind of trades back and forth with Poetic Soul, is adorable, and I’d probably put her right up at the top except the proportions on the double-breasted coat are seriously wrong, to my eye. She’s a very slender doll and the buttons are so large and far apart, they make the whole thing square. I think she’d have been ahead of the game to make it asymetrical, if she didn’t want to completely recut it.

Little pookie bear: realize, folks, this little guy is pukisha sized, which means less than half Wiishu’s size!

Das cuz Mom haznt maioweded it yet, Momma-D! She’s bein’ bad! We gotted duh Tie-bek sleebes DAZEZ ago! I’m's on stwike now. No more pitchursez tiw she getsez it in duh maiow!
Sheesh… And someone’s supposed to understand that, you illiterate imp? But he’s right. To try to get it “squishy” I decided to send it in a Tyvek envelope…and then of course can’t find them, then Walmart didn’t have any….Finally found a Post Office that had some, so it shall be wending its way to Texas RSN!
The shoes were prototypes. I really wanted to get it done so I just hot-glued layer for the soles. The bottom layer is non-skid stuff which theoretically should help with posing…but he wasn’t wanting to stand in them as well as I thought he would, so still need to work on design. I think, for one thing, I need a stiffer in-sole.
I understood it! Of course, I’m not illiterate, but the imp part is debatable.
Um, I don’t think house elves are allowed to go on strike – no union! So, you’re pretty much scwewed, boy! Get backs to work!
Den we doin’ a house-ewf sitzin! Pease!

If you’re going to do a sit-in, tell Momma-Jane she needs to make you some bell bottoms and a tie-dyed shirt! And beads, with a honkin’ big peace symbol! Your sandals will be fine for that outfit.
He’s already got his order in….Sigh…he’s so demanding….I think I’ve even got the peace symbol…came in a packet of embellishments….
Work? What’s that? I live only to appease the house elf… And now, he’s got an accomplice.
Be good, Wiishu, or I will send big Eiri up to Spokane to glare at you.
Wiishu’s awways good. MOM’s bein’ bad cuz she’s not mailin’ da package an’ she won’ led ME dribe da car.
You tell Mama-J I let Chi drive the car! Here is the proof!

Great news! I thought it was lost!
Jane, have you thought of doing a traditional Japanese outfit for Wiishu? Dare I mention the word Bleach, either? (Uh-oh, CJ and Jane are liable to both chase me now! LOL.) — Though if it were me, I think I’d try other colors/patterns than the Bleach Soul Society costumes. It would depend on how conservative or flashy Wiishu might be in that era.
(Hmm, wait, it’s Wiishu. He’s gonna stand out a little. Somebody else might be more, well, quiet about it. LOL.) Eegad…now I’m going to have character ideas running around in my head for a culture I don’t know enough about. Heh. Still, could be lotsa fun.
Oh, yes. He’s already got the fabric. I also have printable silk that I want to design a fabric just for him. What I REALLY want to do for him is a traditional Korean outfit, complete with gorgeous long black wig.
Flash? Oh…yes.
Have you heard any results yet?
They said thay’d be posted on…the 15th, I think. I’m not holding my breath. 25cm is judged head to head with 80cm. I’m not sure I’ll ever get good enough to get the detail into a Wiishu outfit that the big doll folk can. Not sure I want to. Sounds like work! The only under 40cm ever to win was an adorable little doily ballerina…and that’s because doilies are perfectly scaled to YoSD size. (The entire outfit had to be made out of paper doilies. It’s a cute challenge and the winner it priceless.) Most of the “regulars” didn’t even enter that challenge.
OTOH, I didn’t enter it to win. I entered it to gig me into doing “real” clothes for Wiishu, and I accomplished that. I’ll cheer for whoever wins.
