I’ve got the essentials done for Wiishu’s Project Runway outfit. I probably won’t do any more on it since this weekend was my window, and the deadline is the end of the month. But I think it turned out pretty cute.

that’s cute!
Wow! Excellent job!
I. Am. AMAZED!
Girl can SEW!
I especially like the clever use of bracelet toggles!
Hiya! Say…did you try viewing this on your “protected” browser setting? Wondering if I should change them all over to this display…
Thanks, all! It was fun and Wiishu is quite pleased.
I’ve always wanted to try designing stuff, but have never had the body to make it rewarding. I can see where my little resin-family are going to fill a long-squelched creative bent. I love constructing stuff…I love the words “assembly required!”…and this is kind of the ultimate 3D puzzle.
The whole thing was designed around using those necklace/bracelet findings as fasteners for the coat, and then I almost had to give them up cuz I couldn’t figure how to use them! But I think this works: easy for Mom to get on and off; hard for house elf to get shed and leave in unknown places.
There’s a little strip of ribbon on the bar that sneaks back loose in between the coat and the lining, that allows you to pull it far enough through the loop. It’s snug, but fortunately, he’s not going to gain weight!
Now we’ll see if They accept the coat fabric as a “print.” All, I mean ALL, the examples given were for single elements prints: “One of the fabrics must be an in scale print/stripe/check/plaid/polka dot/, etc” This is definitely a print. And the scale, as used, is absolutely “in scale.” But if there’s one thing I’ve discovered, where it comes to language, this group is a whole new brand of conservative, with no dictionary to help us wade through the specificities!
Overall, they’re very nice, but so far, they’re less flexible linguistically than Atevi numbers!
You have no idea how many ways I tried to make those pocket flaps close…everything, with the faux button on top, was just too bulky and stuck out too far, so…I finally put in bound button holes. Problem was, I’d already put the whole thing together, so I had to stitch them by hand! They aren’t too bad, but next pair (and there will be another) will be done on the machine before assembling. Turned out, since it’s rayon, to not be as bulky as I feared. Next one will also have a button on the waistband. All my tiny snaps didn’t work! (I was disgusted) so I had to use a large one and it sticks out so far I had to forego my belt. (Wah)
I also don’t know what they’ll think of the unfinished edges on the shirt, but because of the size of the lettering, there weren’t a lot of options for shape of the shirt, and I really didn’t like the look of yellow edging, which was my original notion. Other options turned “costume-y” even by my definition. Raw edges on T’s are still “in,” so hopefully they won’t have a problem with it.
I’ve got an idea how to make hightops and will give it a try after I knock off work today. I’ve still got a couple of days and want to give it a try. He needs to have an accessory, which the hat fulfills, but I do want those hightops…(I want to try my new tiny grommetses.)
Oh…and we want to make him a slingshotta to stick in his back pocket! (Wonder if they’ll count that as an accessory!
Prolly not. It’s a prop. :D)
Hey, very cool.
Liked the dance/defense pose on the first one or two photos.
Those cargo pants look great, he looks good shirtless, even. He might have to fight off house-elves with crushes.
The shirt turned out very good and the jacket’s cool. The fastenings remind me of… the old BSG jackets and similar.
Huh, I just recalled one of the TOS Andorian costumes with the feathery whatsits.
Wiishu looks really good in his new stuff.
LOL, at times, I still want to take a comb or tie to his hair. I dunno why. Though mostly, I’m fine with it now, accepted it as just “his thing” for hairstyle. But every now and then, haha, I get this urge it should be combed or tied back.
Wiishu probably wouldn’t like that idea, huh? Sorry, buddy.
Seeing this stuff is really neat. Along with drawing, I have some urge toward costume and clothing design, even back when I was a kid/teen.
But sewing isn’t really an option for me. (Needle and thread, tiny.) (I get really lucky if I can thread a needle to sew on a button.) So I’d need buddies, partners, on any costuming or clothing, if I were going to do it.

I need to get my measurements for a suit coat, too. It’s been a while since I bought one. — I have my eye on a frock coat that would fit either the Firefly Verse or the Old West and Rodeo season, or Dickens on the Strand. I really like the color, and it’s not so expensive as to be ridiculous. So if I can, before ApolloCon, I want to do that. — Think I’m going to have to admit that my weight is my weight, and if I lose any, good. So, might as well get the measurements done. Will have to figure out who/where for that, though. — The coats are ordered in a coat size, which I think is the chest measurement. I believe they don’t require fitting from there, but I can email the seller and ask.
The color’s a somewhat greyish medium-dark brown, a good look.
