I have so many versions of these covers now, I’m going snowblind. Started working on the placement of the “part X” and realized I’d been working on two different layered files. Now, I find interesting differences between them and am curious which actually “works” better. So, without further ado, which of these catches your eye the fastest/most and why?

I believe I prefer the one on the right, with higher contrast.
I prefer the one on the right. The one on the left is a bit dull and things fade together, whereas with the one on the right I notice details.
I prefer the one on the left, mostly because I prefer the title lettering, it’s clearer and more readable for me, and fits in well with the tone of the rest of the cover. The ‘Part One’ stands out more in the left image, for me.
The lettering on the right seems a bit fuzzy and over-bright to me, though it does stand out clearly from the grayer background; but ‘Part One’ is slightly less noticeable because the brightness is the same as the rest of the title. But I don’t like the fatter letter-type, especially the broad final S in Groundties on the right.
This might be an artifact of my screen-settings, or just a personal preference.
LOL, this is a test right? In Myers-Briggs terms, I am much more an iNtuitive than a Sensor. It took me a minute or more before I even noticed any difference at all; I think the right hand one has more background detail. As to catching my eye, they both look the same at a glance, since I just see the foreground figure. I don’t remember the population percentage of iNtuitives versus Sensors (40/60, or maybe less), but maybe you should just ignore us :cheerful: (for cover design purposes, anyway).
Started to say the one on the left, then looked further …I like the one on the right but like your name on the left. It has more *pop*. Perhaps you could bring your name out a bit more on the right? (There! One more thing to think about!)
Heheh, ask ten people, get twelve opinions. ;D
I like the one on the right better. Deeper, richer colors and more contrast. Brighter, too.
Except your name doesn’t show up as well, so maybe the brightest and contrast need to be tweaked, possibly only in the planet / ground / floor portion. I agree the final S in GroundTies looks as though it’s wider, even if it is really the same scale factor as the other letters.
A tip: Numbers sort better as numbers than as words, and sorted as text, if there were more than 9 volumes, the text would sort as 1, 10, 11, 2, 20, 21, 3… unless there’s a leading zero (o1, 02, 03, … 10, 11, … 20, 21, …). — Just in case this is ever an issue. (It could be for CJ’s Foreigner or for serial chapter installments.)
